Degenerative and neurodegenerative diseases

The name for health conditions that worsen over time.

In the context of MS, ‘degenerative disease’ means that the damage to the central nervous system (CNS)—and loss of nervous tissue—accumulates over time. Neurodegenerative disease is an umbrella term for conditions characterised by progressive nervous system dysfunction.
